Dream Home by Padraig McGrane

The poet, Padraig McGrane, was born near Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, Ireland, and died in Santiago de Compostella, Spain, in 2008 at the untimely age of 49 years. Padraig was a restless soul, travelling widely. After graduating from Trinity College, Dublin, he lived for periods in Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Spain (both in Barcelona and Santiago). He also experimented with different occupations. But the two constants in his life were poetry and music. Everywhere he went he brought his tin whistle and treated those he met to his repertoire of Irish traditional tunes. And always he was writing poetry. Because of his constant travelling outside Ireland, he took little care publishing his work. A collection called 'Dream Home' was arranged and published by his Dublin friends in 1984. When he died 24 years later, many of the poems he had written over that period were discovered in his apartment. The present volume includes the original selection as well as the subsequently written ones.
