Scaffold by Thomas Brezing
This is the second collection of poems by Thomas Brezing, who won the Strokestown
International Poetry Prize in 2024.
Thomas Brezing was born in Germany and moved to Ireland in the early 1990s. He is a visual
artist and poet based in North County Dublin. In his 30 plus year art practice he has exhibited his
work nationally and internationally and is represented in many collections such as: The Arts
Council of Ireland, The National Self-Portrait Collection of Ireland, Permanent Collection
Limerick City Gallery of Art, Fingal County Council Collection, Lapua Art Museum
Collection Finland, Highlanes Municipal Collection, Mayo County Council, Contemporary
Irish Art Society, Boyle Civic Collection and the Office of Public Works.
To date he has published two hardback art books, The Art Of Failure Isn’t Hard To Master in
2011 in conjunction with Highlanes Municipal Gallery and Out Too Far (Wishing Too Many
Things) as part of an Arts Council Bursary in 2017.
Scotus Press published his debut poetry collection Anvil Dust in 2022, which received the
John Richardson French Residency Award and earned him a place on the National Mentoring
Programe, selected by the Irish Writer’s Centre & Fingal Arts Office. Scaffold is his second
poetry collection.
