Aspects of a Life by Gerry Coffey

This is a first collection of poems by Gerry Coffey. He was born in Dun Laoghaire but his family moved to Clondalkin while he was still a child. As an adult, Gerry moved to Kilkenny, then to Nenagh, Co Tipperary, where he still lives with his wife and daughters. From the time he left school, Gerry has been an activist for various causes, especially focused on the rights and needs of his fellow citizens. These poems reflect his varied experiences, from growing up in Clondalkin, to the music culture that inspired his generation, to family tribulations and tragedies, to projects for the betterment of people.

These are poems from the heart, and from the heartland of our fracturing republic, from the pen of a man engaged in a constant battle to lift his fellow humans, to celebrate, commemorate and protect, to illuminate injustice, to make the world fairer and safer for everyone . . . These poems are a joy to read and re-read.
